The Cascade Cadets are back in action this week at home vs 1A #1 Indianapolis Lutheran.

The Cadets are back at home after picking up their first win of the season vs 1A Cloverdale Clovers 56-0. Cadets racked up 544 yards of total offense and allowed -13 yards total on defense.  The team stepped up and answered the call from the Coaches during the week at practice. SR Stephen Alderson got going on the ground in fashion rushing for 281 yards and 2 touchdowns. SO Liam Farmer led the defense with an outstanding all around performance with 8 total tackles, 3 tackles for a loss, and 2 sacks.

The Saints enter the game with a record of (4-0)  picking up win vs Cardinal Ritter, Triton Central, Indianapolis Shotridge and Beech Grove.  The Cadets enter the game with a record of (1-3) dropping their first three games of the season to Triton Central, Beech Grove and Scecina with their first win coming vs Cloverdale 56-0.

Cadets look to gain momentum against Indianapolis Lutheran. This will be the 2nd meeting between the two teams. Saints lead the series 1-0. Cadets traveled to Lutheran last year with the Cadets losing 46-28.

Cadet Notes

Both sides of the football were at top levels last week and look to further that this week against a tough Lutheran opponent. Sophomore MaKye Tharp is back in action at quarterback getting his 2nd career start. Last week, Tharp completed 11 – 28 for 244 yards and 5 touchdowns, SR Runningback Stephen Alderson has himself a career game rushing for 281 yards and 2 touchdowns. Tharp and Alderson lead the Cadet offense to 544 yards. On defense, SO Liam Farmer totaled 8 tackles, 4 tackles for a loss and 2 sacks, JR outside linebacker Henry Smith gathered 6 total tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 1 safety, and a fumble recovery. Cadets held the Clovers to -13 total yards on defense.

Cadets on the season are averaging 244 yards per game on offense and giving up 172.5 yards per game on defense. Cadets look to slow down a dominant Saints pass attack this Friday Night and keep momentum from the previous week. Last weeks 56-0 defeat was the most points the Cadets has scored and the last shutout since 2018 when they defeated Owen Valley 61-0.

Scouting the Saints

Indianapolis Lutheran is coached by Dave Pasch (103-51) and coming off of a 13-1 season last year losing in the state title game. SR QB Blake White is the leader on the Saints offense completing 77-11 1182 yards with 14 td – 5 int. JR WR Montasi Clay and SR WR Joseph Faubion combine for 715 yards and 8 touchdowns. Defensively, Saints are carried by JR DB Jake Pasch and SR LB Hayden Filipovich both in front of the team with 44 tackles each.

The Cadets will be back at home the next two weeks against North Putnam (9/25-Homecoming) and Speedway (10/2).
