Cadets pick up their first win of the season against 1A Cloverdale Clovers 56-0.
There were a lot of standout performances from Friday Nights victory, but one that stood out was the defensive performance under first year Defensive Coordinator Rob Hurst. Defense controlled the line of scrimmage from start to finish and end the game giving up -14 yards, forcing 5 turnovers and shutting out the Clover offense. Top defensive performances of the night were SO Defensive End Liam Farmer – 6 Tackles, 3 Tackles for a Loss, 2 sacks, 1 Forced fumble and JR Safety Henry Smith – 7 Tackles, 2 Tackles for a Loss, 1 Interception. Cadet defense came ready to play and answered the call from the coaching staff from the previous 3 weeks. The Black Swarm defense played aggressive all night, taking a huge step in the right direction.
As the defensive side of the ball stepped up, so did the offense. Cadets lit up the scoreboard with 56 points. SO Quarterback MaKye Tharp got his first start of the season and took advantage of it. Tharp had a huge performance completing 11-28 attempts for 246 yards and 4 touchdowns. SR Runningback Stephen Alderson did not disappoint in the run game either. Alderson statistics on the night were 23 rushes for 298 yards and 2 touchdowns for his top performance of this year. Multiple wide receivers stepped up to the plate, SR Zarik Chimielewski had 3 catches 77 yards 2 touchdowns, SR Tight End Dane Dubois caught 3 passes for 50 yards 1 touchdown, SR John Hurst caught 2 passes 76 yards 1 touchdown. Cadets finished the game with 544 yards of total offense.
Cadets are back at home and look to maintain the momentum as they host 1A #1 – Indianapolis Lutheran at Cascade Sports Complex in Clayton, IN next Friday; Kickoff at 7:00pm.
