The Lady Cadets soccer team traveled to Mooresville High School tonight to play an out of conference out of division (1A v. 3A) game with the Lady Pioneers. The game was physical and fast game for the first 20 minutes of the first half. The Lady Pioneers Chloe Flinn scored the Lady Pioneers only goal of the game with a simple shot past the Lady Cadets goalie Maddie Walker. The first half ended in a 1-0 lead for the Lady Pioneers over the Lady Cadets.
The second half started out just like the first half for the first 20 minutes, another physical and fast paced game with the Lady Pioneers putting pressure on the Cadets defensive backs. With 18:00 left on the game clock, Ellie Dugan and Mallory Laughlin won the ball back in the midfield and pushed the ball up the field. The steal started a five pass string that ended with Ava Cook passing to Kaylin Cook for the Lady Cadets first goal of the game and tying the game score at 1-1. The Lady Cadets kept up the offensive momentum when Ellie Dugan stole the ball from the Lady Pioneers, took two dribbles forward, and fired an arching shot that fell off the goalies hands into the goal. These two goals in 8 minutes recharged the Lady Cadets defensive group to hold off the Lady Pioneers for a 2-1 win.
The Lady Cadets season record now stands at 6-2-2 (3-1 ICC) and they will return to the soccer field on Thursday, September 17th when they host Danville Lady Warriors.
