The Cascade Girls Soccer team travelled to Brazil to play the 2A #10 Northview Lady Knights in a former WIC member rivalry. In previous seasons, this match would have determined the WIC champion in girls soccer (Cascade WIC champion in 2015, Northview WIC champion 2014, 2018, and 2019) but this year’s game was just a good competition between two teams having good seasons.
The Lady Knights jumped ahead of Cascade early in the game with a goal at the 3 minute mark and held the lead for the rest of the game. The Lady Cadets played the Lady Knights strong and up and down the field for the next 30 minutes in the first half until the Lady Knights scored 3 more goals in the last 10 minutes of the first half. Both teams found ways to put their entire Varsity and JV rosters onto the field for most of the second half .

Coach Franklin commented about the game “This was the best team we’ve faced all season based on state ranking and record. Northview (9-1) is a good team and we wish them well in their 2A Sectional competition. As we look ahead at the 1A Sectional 41, playing teams like Northview will help us understand what is necessary elevate our team effort to that championship level. Its never fun to lose but there was a positive experience in playing this game. We need to look at our effort as a team and focus on how we’ll get better for the next game. With Lutheran coming up on Saturday and Speedway coming up next week, we have two good chances to show how much we’ve grown from this game and the season.” Cascade Girls Soccer record now stands at 7-4-2 on the 2020 season.

Next game for the Cascade Girls Soccer team will be Saturday, September 26th when the Lady Cadets host Lutheran at 10:00 on the field turf.
