The Cascade Girls Soccer team hosted former conference rival Greencastle on Saturday morning as the first part of a girls/boy doubleheader with the Tiger Cubs. With a radical line-up change right before the start of the game, the Lady Cadets came out aggressive and confident against Greencastle and scored two quick goals before the 20:00 mark in the first half. Emily Branscum hustled to an open pass from Kaylin Cook to score the team’s first goal of the game and her second goal in the past two games. The second goal of the game was scored by the team’s leading scorer Kaylin Cook from a long pass from Mallory Laughlin.
During the second half, Greencastle played a much higher game with constant pressure deep on the field making the Lady Cadets handle the ball deeper and make longer clearing passes. The Lady Tiger Cubs found a way to score two goals on the Lady Cadets in the second half and tie the game up at 2-2. The last 10:00 of the game saw three great offensive opportunities from each team and that helped ramp up the drama and excitement of the match. The Cascade Girls Soccer team’s record now stands at 5-2-2.
